We take a look at the trends for this summer and what you need to know for May – September 2022 events. Touching briefly, and hopefully for the last time, on covid. Additionally, we’ll look at booking lead times and the new equipment which Grizzly Bear Events have been investing in.
We’re ready for your enquiries, bookings and looking ahead to our most successful summer season to date.
Get your dancing shoes ready....
With the diary looking jammed packed already, months ahead of where we would normally be at, it’s certainly going to be one heck of a party this summer. Whether you’re hosting or attending a summer celebration, festival or outdoor event we’re pretty sure everyone is going to be there for a good time. Hugs all round, chinking of the glasses and packed dancefloors are going to be enjoyed across Sussex & Surrey this year.

Check your diarys and get booking!
If you’re starting to look ahead to the warmer months of June and July now is the time to get some dates in the diary. With a lot of weddings and parties postponing to 2022 it’s likely that not only you, but friends and family already have some weekends with activities planned in. Got a date in mind for hosting? We’d recommend speaking to key suppliers such as marquees, caterers, power and lighting to reserve your hire items. Jubilee weekend, 2nd – 5th June 2022, is currently a very popular weekend, with some lovely celebrations having just reserved their fridge trailers and generators.
Key aspects to consider:
- Do you need a marquee or similar for cover?
- Catering - what are guests eating, informal food van or a plated menu?
- Invites - get them out to people ASAP
- Do you need refrigeration to keep drinks cold?
- Do you need to bring in a generator for power?
- Will it get chilly later on? Consider a heater for marquees as it can get chilly later on
- Decoration, cutlery and crockery
A brief look at coronavirus:
Across the industry we (event suppliers) are relieved that the pandemic is drawing to a close. After the 2020 summer we all thought it was over, that was until the Omnicron variant arrived in the UK and shortened our Christmas equipment bookings, along with cancelled New Year celebrations.
Looking ahead, we will still allow for postponements in the future should there be another viral pandemic, however we are positive that there is now government procedures in place (such as the vacines and lateral flow testing) which will allow for virus free guests to attend weddings, parties and festivals.
Still to book in your equipment?
We have a large stock of fridge trailers and generators, but there won’t be availability for long! The power side of Grizzly Bear Events is becoming very booked up, with quite a few weekends across the July and August period now fully booked.
On Grizzly Bear Events generator rentals we include delivery, 20 hours of fuel, cabling installation and equipment installation in one rental price – it’s hard to find a reason why you wouldn’t book with us. Likewise on refrigeration and heating, our prices are competative and we put all costs upfront so you know what to include in your budget from the outset.

On a side note – in the last few weeks, Energy Generator Rental, one of the large rental companies which covered Surrey, Berkshire and Hertfordshire went into administration. This has led to an influx of clients looking to source a new supplier for their event – we’ve been able to help quite a few customers. If you were a client of theirs and looking for 20kva or 40kva generators, please do get in touch.

** We're investing in new equipment! **
In the lead up to this summer we are still investing in new equipment. Grizzly Bear Events has continued to purchase new ultra silent generators, fridge trailers and most recently diversified across the walk in modular coldrooms too to continue our fridge hire range.
Walk in coldrooms have the benefit of being ground level which allows for easier access for catering companies with food preparation trolleys. Our smallest coldroom (2.4m x 2.4) has an slightly larger floorpsace at 4.2sqm than our 3m chiller fridge trailers, with the option to extend to 4.8m long. These cold stores are more suited to long term installations in commercial, catering and pharmacutical locations than one off weekend hire, although that is still an option.
